TNT — Talents and Time
Ottawa Christian School has established a system to encourage every member of the OCS community to commit to sharing in the volunteer needs of the school. It’s a program we will call TNT — Talents and Time — two essential ingredients in keeping the school strong and dynamic.
TNT requires that each family contribute some degree of volunteer service throughout the year. A post-dated Volunteer Assessment cheque will be required when tuition is submitted according to the schedule below:
| Hours | Amount | |
|---|---|---|
| Family with Full-time student(s)* | 25 | $500 |
| Single-parent family with full-time student(s) | 15 | $300 |
| Family with one student in kindergarten | 15 | $300 |
*note: a family with one JK and one SK student is considered a family with full-time students
The cheque will be returned when the required hours have been fulfilled. Parents will be updated on various volunteer opportunities via the weekly Memo. Each person will be responsible to turn in their tracking sheet (signed by activity coordinator) to the Volunteer coordinator. Grandparents, graduated children, friends and other family members are welcome to volunteer and accumulate hours for families. (In fact, high school students can sign off on their service hours required for graduation as well as on family TNT hours!)
In January updates will be sent out to inform families of their outstanding volunteer hours. Families that have completed their volunteer requirements by this point will have their Assessment cheques returned to them already. They are encouraged to continue volunteering and submitting tracking sheets for the remainder of the year. This will allow us to see how many volunteer hours go into running the school every year.
A volunteer commitment form will be completed by each family. A database of the members’ interests and skills will be compiled by the Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate matching volunteers to available tasks when necessary. However the responsibility of volunteering falls primarily to the family — volunteer opportunities will be made public through the weekly Memo.
Volunteer Tracking sheets are available on line. Please complete and return to the office to be forwarded to the Volunteer Coordinator.
