Choosing Ottawa Christian School
My husband and I began investigating elementary schools for our children when they were in preschool. As practicing believers, God is not compartmentalized for us. We live out our faith in our neighborhood, in our associations, at our workplaces, and of course, in our church. We talk about Jesus a lot in our home and have always encouraged the children to do the same. As we visited different schools in our neighborhood, we kept asking ourselves, “Will the children learn about Jesus here? Will they be encouraged to grow in their faith?” As soon as we entered Ottawa Christian School, we knew the answer to these questions was yes!
Our children have been blessed by the dedicated and professional staff at the school and they have thrived in a challenging academic environment. Each child is unique in the eyes of the teachers and they are encouraged to develop their gifts and talents in a way that will bring honor to God. It has been an interesting for us to see how the Lord is tied into all aspects of the curriculum, whether it is French language training, science, or gym class. The school truly strives to integrate faith and learning in a manner that is relevant to each grade level.
Of course, no organization is without its challenges, and for our family the cost of the tuition has stretched us financially. We have had to make sacrifices to send our children to OCS, but we have involved the children in those decisions and they know that there is a cost associated with them attending this school. We see the benefits on a daily basis and we have the privilege of watching our children and their classmates become the people God intended them to be. I am constantly reminded that the spiritual foundation the school is laying in the early years of our children’s lives cannot be measured in terms of money. We took a step of faith and enrolled our children at OCS and have been richly blessed by it.
